TRACES NT is the European Commission’s online system for certification and official controls on consignments entering the Union. For a Ukrainian exporter of frozen fruit and vegetables, it matters in two situations.
**Organic goods.** The certificate of inspection for an organic consignment is issued in TRACES NT by the control body, and it has to exist before the consignment is presented at entry. The consignment description on the certificate must match the invoice and the customs declaration. A mismatch is not a paperwork inconvenience; it can cost the lot its organic status.
**Consignments subject to official controls at a border control post.** Where a commodity and origin combination falls within the scope of Regulation (EU) 2017/625 and the increased control frequencies in Regulation (EU) 2019/1793, the pre-notification and the common health entry document are handled through the system.
Access is normally through the importer or the control body rather than directly by the exporter, but the exporter is the party that supplies the data. The practical instruction is to confirm with your control body and your customs agent, before the season rather than before the truck, which of your product and destination combinations require an entry in the system.
