Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 establishes maximum residue levels for pesticides in food and feed of plant and animal origin in the EU. It harmonises MRLs across Member States and sets a default limit where no specific MRL exists, and residue monitoring programmes test imported consignments against these limits.
