Palletization

Letter

Palletization is the process of arranging and securing packed goods on pallets using interlocking stack patterns, corner boards, stretch wrap or strapping to protect loads during storage and transport.

In trade practice

Logistics and warehouse teams select stack patterns that interlock cartons across layers to distribute weight and resist shifting in transit. Corner protectors and stretch wrap are applied to stabilise the load, and maximum stack heights are set to avoid crushing lower cartons, particularly important for frozen fruit where carton integrity affects product quality. Reefer trailers have limited internal height, so pallet height must be confirmed against vehicle specifications before loading. A frequent error is overstacking, which causes carton collapse and product damage discovered only at intake.

In a specification

Contracts and packing instructions typically define maximum pallet height and gross weight, number of cartons per layer and per pallet, and the type of securing material required.
