Goods dispatch is the outbound warehouse stage at which picked orders are verified, vehicles are checked for temperature readiness, loads are secured and transport documents are generated to accompany the shipment to its destination.
In trade practice
Before loading, the dispatch team confirms that the vehicle has reached the required temperature and that the load matches the dispatch note in terms of product, batch and quantity. For frozen food, pre-cooling the trailer to the required temperature before opening the doors is a standard control that is often recorded as evidence for the cold chain record. The dispatch process generates the CMR consignment note, delivery note and, for exports, any required customs or phytosanitary documents. Errors at dispatch, such as loading the wrong batch or failing to record the vehicle temperature, can create traceability gaps that are difficult to close after the vehicle has left.
In a specification
Logistics contracts and export sale agreements typically specify which documents must accompany each dispatch, the temperature at which the vehicle must be presented for loading and the party responsible for verifying compliance before the vehicle departs.
