A reefer container is a refrigerated shipping container with an integral cooling unit, used for temperature-controlled sea and intermodal transport. For frozen fruit it is set to −18 °C or colder, with fresh-air vents configured per product. A 20-foot reefer typically carries about 20–22 tonnes of frozen cargo.
