A cold room is an insulated, mechanically refrigerated storage chamber, ranging from small walk-in units to large warehouse cells, maintained at a defined temperature band to preserve frozen or chilled product between processing and dispatch.
In trade practice
Correct stacking practice leaves clearance between pallets and walls to allow even air circulation, and door-opening time is minimised to prevent warm-air ingress and frost build-up. Temperature is logged continuously and mapped periodically to identify warm spots within the chamber. Buyers auditing Ukrainian suppliers check for valid calibration certificates on temperature sensors, pest-control records and evidence of regular defrost management. Overloading a cold room beyond its rated capacity is a frequent cause of temperature non-conformance.
In a specification
A supplier qualification questionnaire or warehouse approval form typically records the cold room’s rated capacity, set-point temperature, alarm thresholds and the frequency of temperature mapping exercises.
