The bill of lading (B/L) is the key document in sea freight: it is issued by the carrier, confirms receipt of the cargo, evidences the contract of carriage and acts as a document of title. For frozen cargo the B/L should show the container number, seal number and the required carriage temperature, for example −18 °C.
