Take the quoted price, normalise every quote to the same delivery point, add the costs the Incoterm leaves with you, then divide by usable output rather than by gross weight. The last step is the one most comparisons skip and the one that most often reverses the ranking.
Why it works this way
A quote is a price at a place. An FCA price and a DAP price for the same fruit differ by freight, insurance and the border work between them, and neither is cheaper than the other until both are expressed at the same point.
Then there is what arrives against what you can use. Glaze is water sold at fruit price unless it is declared and deducted. Defect tolerance, calibre spread, freezer burn and clumping all move the usable fraction. A two percent difference in usable yield is worth more than most price negotiations.
What follows in practice
Build one sheet with fixed rows: ex-works product price, packaging, pallet, loading, inland freight, main carriage, insurance, customs, delivery, storage. Fill it identically for every supplier and leave blanks where the Incoterm makes a line the seller’s problem.
