There is no standard answer, because it depends entirely on the carton footprint and the permitted stack height. Calculate it from the EUR pallet base of 800 by 1200 millimetres and the height limit of your destination cold store. A standard reefer semi-trailer then takes 33 EUR pallets and around 22 tonnes of payload.
Why the footprint matters more than the weight
Frozen berry loads are almost always volume limited rather than weight limited. That makes the carton footprint, not the carton strength, the main driver of your cost per kilogram. A carton that tiles the 800 by 1200 base cleanly gives the highest usable payload; one that is twenty millimetres too wide costs you a row and invites crushed corners from overhang.
Practical rules
- Choose a footprint that divides cleanly into 800 by 1200.
- Keep the load inside the pallet edge; overhang loses corner support.
- Set the stack height for the destination cold store racking, not for the trailer.
- Do not mix carton footprints on one pallet.
- Confirm whether your destination works in EUR pallets or in another standard before fixing the carton.
