Oilseed meal is the protein-rich solid left after oil is extracted from oilseeds by pressing and solvent extraction, such as sunflower, rapeseed or soybean meal.
In trade practice
It is mainly a feed material. Protein, fibre, moisture and residual oil define the grade, and dehulling raises protein. Feed labels use names from the Catalogue of feed materials in Regulation (EU) No 68/2013; grades such as HiPro are trade conventions.
